The invention belongs to the technical field of municipal greening engineering, and discloses a fabricated green belt structure and a construction method thereof. An assembly type green belt structure comprises a green belt, a plurality of green planting modules, a water collecting pipe fitting, a drainage ditch and an impermeable layer. The green belt comprises curbs and backfill soil; the greening planting modules are buried in the backfill soil at intervals, each greening planting module comprises a box body and a plurality of planting pipes located in the box body, and gaps of the box bodies are filled with water storage filler; the water collecting pipe is communicated with the box; the drainage ditch is located on one side of the green belt and communicated with the water collecting pipe fitting. The impermeable layer is located under the box body. According to the assembly type green belt structure, the green planting modules are planted in the green belt, and when heavy rainfall is suffered, rainwater can directly and rapidly permeate through the water storage filler of the green planting modules and then is discharged into the drainage ditch through the water collecting pipe fittings; and an impermeable layer is laid below the greening planting module, so that the water body continues to permeate downwards to soak the roadbed.
