The gypsum thermal insulation mortar is prepared from the following raw materials in parts by mass: 700-1000 parts of gypsum powder; 100 to 200 parts of glass beads; 2-3 parts of cellulose; 2-3 parts of a thixotropic agent; 1-3 parts of polypropylene fiber; 5-9 parts of latex powder; 1-2 parts of a retarder; and 50-80 parts of an auxiliary admixture. According to the invention, the auxiliary admixture component is added into the gypsum thermal insulation mortar, so that the gypsum thermal insulation mortar can be well applied to plum rain seasons in summer in Jiangsan areas, and meanwhile, the problem that the thermal insulation performance of the gypsum thermal insulation mortar is severely reduced after sudden rain after high temperature in summer can be well avoided; meanwhile, the gypsum thermal insulation mortar is accidentally found to have better compressive strength.
