A sliding door driving unit for a vehicle is capable of transmitting or blocking a driving force required to pull or push a cable to open or close a sliding door. The sliding door driving unit includes: a worm wheel rotatable by a driving motor; a fixed disk coupled to the output shaft; and a moving disk rotatably mounted between the worm gear and the fixed disk in the axial direction of the output shaft. The moving disk is engaged with the worm gear and selectively engaged with the fixed disk.
