The invention provides an electric pole stay wire failure determination method and an electric pole stay wire detection system. The method comprises the steps that related information of the stay wire of the electric pole is obtained, the related information comprises one or more of displacement, elastic deformation and inclination variable, the displacement is the position variation of the stay wire of the electric pole, the elastic deformation is the stretching variation of the stay wire of the electric pole, and the inclination variable is the angle variation of the stay wire of the electric pole; under the condition that the related information meets a preset condition, it is determined that the stay wire of the electric pole is invalid, and the preset condition is one or more of displacement larger than or equal to a preset displacement threshold value, elastic deformation larger than or equal to a preset deformation threshold value and inclination variable larger than or equal to a preset inclination change threshold value; and under the condition that the stay wire of the electric pole fails, first alarm information is generated. According to the scheme, the problem that in the prior art, an electric pole stay wire is prone to failure, and safety accidents are caused is solved.
