The invention relates to a preparation method of a viscose-based fiber thermal insulation composite material, which comprises the following steps: taking viscose precursor as a raw material, carrying out densification treatment, pre-oxidation and surface coating to obtain high-strength viscose-based carbon fiber, compounding the viscose-based carbon fiber with a carbon source precursor, and carrying out carbonization and graphitization treatment to obtain the viscose-based fiber thermal insulation composite material. Preparing a thermal insulation composite material; the obtained carbon fiber has good mechanical strength and retention performance in a carbon layer, and the obtained thermal insulation composite material has excellent mechanical properties.
