The invention belongs to the technical field of building materials, and particularly relates to a high-strength water permeable brick and a preparation method thereof. The water permeable brick comprises the following raw materials in parts by weight: 25-40 parts of cement, 10-20 parts of modified diatomite, 40-50 parts of fly ash, 60-80 parts of gravel, 3-5 parts of a water reducing agent and 5-10 parts of water, a preparation process of the modified diatomite comprises the following steps: (1) adding pretreated diatomite into a Tris-dopamine hydrochloride solution for stirring reaction, and obtaining polydopamine coated diatomite after the reaction is completed; (2) adding graphene into a solvent, then adding gamma-aminopropyltriethoxysilane, carrying out a heating reaction, and after the reaction is completed, carrying out purification to obtain silane modified graphene; and (3) adding the diatomite coated with the polydopamine and the silane modified graphene into absolute ethyl alcohol, stirring, and purifying to obtain the modified diatomite. The water permeable brick has excellent mechanical properties and wear resistance.
