Ein Spanntisch zum Halten eines plattenförmigen Werkstücks unter Saugkraft schließt eine Saugplatte, die aus einer porösen Keramik und mit einer Vielzahl offener Poren hergestellt ist, und einen Rahmen ein, der eine Seitenfläche und eine Rückseite der Saugplatte mit Ausnahme einer anziehenden Saugfläche bedeckt und eine Vielzahl von in einer oberen Fläche von diesem definierte Saugnuten und einen in diesem definierten Fluidverbindungsdurchgang aufweist, der die Saugnuten mit einer Saugquelle in Fluidverbindung hält, wobei der Rahmen auf sich die Saugplatte unterstützt. Die Saugplatte weist eine Porosität in einem Bereich von 60 bis 70 Vol.-% auf und die offenen Poren weisen Durchmesser in einem Bereich von 10 bis 25 μm auf.
A chuck table for holding a plate-shaped workpiece under suction includes a suction plate made of porous ceramics and having a plurality of open pores, and a frame covering a side surface and a reverse side, except an attractive suction surface, of the suction plate and having a plurality of suction grooves defined in an upper surface thereof and a fluid communication passage defined therein that holds the suction grooves in fluid communication with a suction source, the frame supporting the suction plate thereon. The suction plate has a porosity in the range from 60% to 70% by volume, and the open pores have diameters in the range from 10 μm to 25 μm.
