A thermistor element (2) includes a thermistor body (1a) and a reduction-resistant coating (1b) covering the thermistor body. The thermistor body (1a) contains a perovskite phase of perovskite-type crystal structure represented by the composition formula: ABO 3 where A is at least one A-site element and B is at least one B-site element. The reduction-resistant coating (1b) is formed of a complex oxide containing one or more of the at least one A-site element and one or more of the at least one B-site element.
