An automatic teller machine (ATM) (30) receives and stores the cassette. An electrical protection circuit (41) provided in the cassette comprises an infrared receiver (46). An electrical control circuit (50) comprising an infrared transmitter (51) is provided in the ATM. An optical window (21) is provided for the visual connection between the infrared receiver and the infrared transmitter. An independent claim is also included for a security container for receiving valuables.
