The planar element (100) useful as decorative element, shower tub, furniture front, separator in moistening area or wetting area for shower cabins or swimming pools, comprises a support plate (10) and a coating (30) subjected to an area or side of the support plate, a multiple sealing (50), imprint and/or an inscription (40) in the form of advertisement, a background illumination by which the surface or side of the planar elements is turned way from the coating, and a design formed as cavity or hollow wall. The support substrate is formed as acryl plate or acryl component plate. The support substrate is formed as acryl plate, acryl component plate or plexiglass plate, as aluminum component plate with a plastic core or mineral core and with two aluminum cover layers, as component of a polyethylene core material with a cover plate stove-enameled in back side, as a light, stable, water permeable, heat insulated and steam braking component plate, and as plastic coated fiber plate or from etching glass out of flexible and/or unbreakable glass. The support substrate is equipped with an undercoat. The coating is formed as paint work and/or painting or in the form of a foil heatable on the support plate. An independent claim is included for a procedure for the production of planar element.
