The invention relates to a mounting bracket (10) for installation of a window (1) in a roof structure, comprising a first leg portion (11) adapted for connection with an associated frame member (2, 3, 4, 5) of a window frame and a second leg portion (12) essentially perpendicular to the first leg portion (11) adapted for fastening to the roof structure. The first leg portion (11) includes at least one leg section (11 a, 11 b) adapted for connection with a frame member (2, 3, 4, 5), and the second leg portion (12) comprises a first leg section (12a; 12a') connected to the first leg section (11 a) of the first leg portion (11). The first leg section (12a; 12a) of the second leg portion (12) includes at least one area forming an extension beyond a first area of the first leg section (12a; 12a') of the second leg portion (12) opposite the first leg section (11 a) of the first leg portion (11).
