The present invention provides a process for producing a porous ceramic, which comprises the steps: dispersion of from 2 to 40% by volume of a particulate solid selected from among oxides, carbides, nitrides and phosphates in from 50 to 97.99% by volume of a liquid primary phase and then introduction of from 0.01 to 10% by volume of a liquid secondary phase to the resulting suspension of particulate solid and liquid primary phase, in each case based on the total volume of the suspension, where the primary phase and the secondary phase are immiscible with one another, removal of the primary phase and of the secondary phase from the suspension, giving a solid body, and sintering of the solid body obtained after the removal, forming a porous ceramic.
