The invention relates to an apparatus for generating a wave profile (1), comprising a platform (2), which can float in a body of water and has a wave tank (3) located therein, wherein water can flow out of the body of water enclosing the platform (2), into the wave tank (3), through an inlet opening (4) and can be directed into the surrounding body of water, out of the wave tank (3), through an outlet opening (5), wherein the wave tank contains an obstruction arrangement (6) which, in the water flowing through the wave tank (3), forms a wave profile (1) with a wave slope (1a) which is suitable for surfing.
