The present invention relates to the manufacture of a thermal insulating product, in particular of a foam, starting from a mixture of mineral particles with a submicronic porosity such that the bulk density thereof is less than 280 kg/m3 and such that the density of the cake obtained by drying, at 40°C, a dispersion of these particles in water is less than 600 kg/m3.
