    The invention relates to a method for treating biomass fuel in a plant for producing cement clinker, wherein the biomass is first subjected to initial drying by the gases given off by a heat exchanger in the plant, and to a corresponding plant for producing cement. The proposal according to the invention is that biomass be carbonized before being used, utilizing the heat given off by a heat exchanger present in the plant, as a result of which the low-calorific-value heat given off can be utilized to process the biomass for an energetically advantageous fuel.
