The invention relates to a method for sealing off a pipeline system using a fluid-tight hose which is inserted into a gap between two pipes or into a slit in a pipe of the pipeline system that is to be sealed off. A liquid is subsequently introduced into the hose via a feed opening arranged in the hose such that said hose fills up with liquid until the liquid begins to flow out via a discharge opening arranged in the hose in the region of the highest point of said hose in the gap or slit. The discharge opening is then closed such that the liquid no longer flows through. Further liquid being fed into the hose results in the hose pressing against the gap or slit in a sealing manner, sealing off the pipeline system. Simple and secure execution of the method and a highly reliable seal are thus achieved. The method can also be used correspondingly to seal off gaps, slits or joins in walls, particularly in the walls of houses.
