A shield for a building panel is designed to clip to a frame of the panel that will be visible in the finished building, to protect the frame during installation. The shield is particularly suitable for a composite window of known type having an aluminium external frame and a wood internal frame in the finished building. The shield has a pair of angled flanges and a clip that sits inside the elbow formed by the angled flanges. The clip is used to install the shield on the external frame, a first flange then protecting a cavity and/or devices in the side of the frame and a second flange then protecting a surface of the frame that will be visible in the finished building.
