The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing an underground storage tank (100) in which a structure comprising an exterior wall (20) forming a first closed contour delimiting a first volume (VI), a raft (10) and an interior wall (30) forming a second closed contour delimiting a sealed storage space (S) for a fluid inside the first volume (VI) are formed under the ground and a prestressing force is applied to the interior wall (30) oriented toward the inside of the storage space (S) so that the interior wall is subjected to compressive hoop stress. The present invention also relates to the tank obtained by implementing said method.
