A LOCK FOR A TAMPER-RESISTANT ASSEMBLY
A tamper-resistant lock assembly comprising a plate (16) having a slot (20) for receiving a key (10), said slot (20) extending through said plate (16) from an opening (20a) in a front face thereof to an exit (20b) in an opposing rear face thereof, said opening (20a) having a first profile and said exit (20b) having a second, different profile, said key (10) comprising a shaft (12) having a bit (14) extending therefrom, said bit (14) being formed of a shape memory material and being pre-configured such that its cross-sectional shape in its temporary form matches said first profile and said bit (14) can be inserted through said slot (20) via said opening (20a) and, upon application of a predetermined external stimulus, returns to a permanent form in which its cross-sectional shape matches said second profile and said bit (14) can be retracted from said slot (20) via said exit (20b).
