A fitting assembly for releasably locking a sash to a window frame for a top-hung window comprises a first fitting portion (10), a second fitting portion (11), and a locking mechanism. The first fitting portion (10) is for attachment to a window frame, the second fitting portion (11) is for attachment to a sash, and the locking mechanism is for locking the first fitting portion to the second fitting portion, thereby locking the sash to the window frame. The locking mechanism comprises an opening (54) for receiving a pin (55) that projects from the second fitting portion (11), a locking element (52), and at least one groove (62) leading to the opening (54). The locking element (52) is slidable along the groove (62) and into a recess (58) of the pin (55) in order to lock the pin (55) within the opening (54), and the locking element (52) comprises a planar surface.
