The invention relates to a device for keeping a facing element, such as plasterboard, at a spacing from a vapor barrier membrane (300) that extends along an insulating material covering a surface, such as a wall or a ceiling, for covering said facing. Said device is characterized in that it includes: a lockplate (1) insertable into a reinforcement (100) rigidly connected to the surface to be covered, and a member (2) intended for attachment of a mounting (200) of the facing element and including a first portion (21), to be inserted into the mounting (200), and a second portion (20) to be inserted into the lockplate. Said portions (20, 21) are at a spacing from each other in a direction that is perpendicular to the surface to be covered. The second portion (20) includes a tip (22) for perforating the vapor barrier membrane (300) when inserting said second portion (20) into the lockplate (1), and in that the lockplate (1) and the attachment member (2) have respective means (14, 12, 22, 23) for compressing the vapor barrier member around the tip (22) in a bearing zone that is coplanar with the membrane.
