The housing (22, 202, 602) defines a chamber (36, 204) filled with a damping medium. The piston (24, 208, 304, 410, 508) is movable in the chamber (36, 204) and includes a passage (50, 212, 322, 414, 510) for allowing the damping medium to pass through. The controller includes a control member (30, 210, 318, 402, 502) and a resilient member (32, 302, 404). The control member (30, 210, 318, 402, 502) is capable of being moved toward the passage (50, 212, 322, 414, 510) of the piston (24, 208, 304, 410, 508) or closing a portion or all portions of the passage (50, 212, 322, 414, 510) of the piston (24, 208, 304, 410, 508) in response to a speed of the piston (24, 208, 304, 410, 508).
