The floor covering has a layer made of thermoplastic material (3), and flagstone slabs (1, 2) arranged at a surface of the floor covering. The thermoplastic material moisturizes a lower side (8) of the flagstone slabs such that the thermoplastic material shrinks with the flagstone slabs for forming a firm connection. Edges (6, 7) of the flagstone slabs are moisturized by the thermoplastic material for forming projections (4, 5), and another layer is made of flexible plastic and/or natural substances. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a floor covering.
