The invention relates to a post (1) for a post-and-beam construction, having a plurality of bearing bodies (2), fastened to a long side of the post, for transmitting bearing loads, acting along the plane of the long side, to the post (1). The fastening of the bearing bodies (2) is in this case realized such that, when mounted on the long side of the post (1), said bearing bodies (2) can be arranged selectively in different positions on the long side of the post (1) which correspond to different rotational positions of the particular bearing body (2) in the plane of the long side about a rotation axis (X) extending perpendicularly to this plane and within the bearing body (2). The bearing bodies (2) are each secured or securable in a form-fitting and/or force-fitting manner in one of these positions so as to be prevented from rotating about this rotation axis (X). As seen in the direction of the particular rotation axis (X), the circumferential delimitations of said bearing bodies (2) form, in each case around at least a third of the circumferential extent, a stop region (S) for striking the inner delimitations (5) of a beam hollow profile (4) to be fastened to the post (2) by way of these bearing bodies (2), wherein, in this stop region (S), the distance of the circumferential delimitations from the rotation axis (X) increases as seen in a first circumferential direction (R). The post (1) according to the invention can be used selectively for different beam profiles (4) by positioning the bearing bodies (2) in different rotational positions about their rotation axes (X), without specific fitting elements needing to be made available for this purpose.
