The machine has a guide tube (30) mounted at an upper end of a mast of a carrier track. A frame is suspended on the mast, and includes a lower part (16b) carrying an excavation device (20) and an upper part (16a) with a coupling element (40) coaxial to a longitudinal axis. The frame is moved between a coupled position in which the element is rotatively coupled with a coupling device (38) of a moving part (34) i.e. telescopic tube, of the tube to pivot the frame around the axis by rotating the moving part, and an uncoupled position in which the element is uncoupled from the coupling device. An independent claim is also included for a method for excavating a ground by using an excavation machine.
