In the vehicle door latch device, overcoming the problem that the door cannot be opened.A vehicle door latch device comprises a latch 5; a ratchet 6 for releasing the latch 5; a first lever 71 that can rotate in a releasing direction from an initial position due to releasing of the ratchet 6, a synthetic resin part 71B being fixed to a metal part 71A on the first lever 71; a first spring 74 biasing the first lever 71 toward the initial position, a second lever 73 pivotally mounted to the first lever 71 via a second shaft 72 at a certain angle and rotating from the initial position to a block position for preventing the first lever 71 from rotating in a releasing direction; a second spring 75 comprising a torsion spring for biasing the second lever 73 toward the initial position; and a holding member 71a, 71b made of the synthetic resin part 71B and holding a coil 75a of the second spring 75.
