The invention relates to a sealing device for a door or a window having a housing rail (1) and a sealing strip, which has a carrier rail (2) and a sealing profiled element (3). The sealing strip can be lowered and raised relative to the housing rail (1) by means of a lowering mechanism, the sealing strip moving without a change in the length thereof during lowering and the sealing profiled element (3) having a first end (33) and a second end (34) opposite the first end (33). The first and second ends (33, 34) of the sealing profiled element (3) are arranged relative to the housing rail (1) in such a way that both of the two ends (33, 34) protrude beyond ends of the housing rail (1) when the sealing strip is in the lowered state. The sealing device according to the invention enables adjustable sealing on both end faces of the door leaf or window sash in a simple way, the sealing device being relatively easy to install, set and readjust.
