    A guide device for a sliding door (6, 7) comprises a guide rail (5) which has at least one running track (51, 52) for a movable running part (60, 70), wherein a mounting part (9, 10) is plugged into the guide rail (5) at opposite end sides, and a stop (40) and/or a self-retracting device (20) can be mounted on each mounting part (9, 10), wherein at least one mounting part (9, 10) can be fixed to an upper base (3) or base via a holder (30), wherein a first holder (30) fixes the one mounting part (10) in the longitudinal direction of the guide rail (5) and perpendicularly thereto, and a second holder (30) fixes the guide rail (5) or the other mounting part (9) perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction of the guide rail (5) and holds it such that it can be displaced in the longitudinal direction of the guide rail (5). The invention further relates to a method for mounting the guide rail (5). (Figure 14)
