Hinge assembly for doors or windows comprising:a fixed frame and a sash connected to the fixed frame by hinges pivotably around a hinge axis, wherein said fixed frame is configured as a hollow profile to be rigidly secured in an architectural opening, and wherein said hinge comprises a first hinge leaf fixed to the fixed frame by first attachment means and a second hinge leaf fixed to the sash, characterized in that the first attachment means are configured to extend through the fixed frame and into a structural portion of a wall wherein the architectural opening is defined.
