The invention relates to an apparatus for the distance-dependent identification of a mobile object by evaluating reflected IR radiation (8, 11), comprising a front plate (1) with a first (2) and a second surface (3) and an IR sensor apparatus (4) comprising at least one IR light-emitting diode (5) and, spaced apart therefrom, an IR sensor (6), wherein the at least one IR light-emitting diode (5) is configured to emit IR radiation (7) in the direction of the first surface (2) of the front plate (1) and through the latter and the IR sensor (6) is configured to detect reflected IR radiation (8) through the second surface (3) of the front plate (1) and through the latter, and an IR evaluation apparatus which is configured to evaluate the reflected IR radiation (8) for the presence of a mobile object, wherein, for the IR sensor (6), use is made of an IR sensor that has a maximum sensitivity at a certain work frequency fo such that the sensitivity at higher or lower frequencies (f) is lower. Moreover, the invention relates to a method for operating this apparatus.

The invention relates to an apparatus for the distance-dependent identification of a mobile object by evaluating reflected IR radiation (8, 11), comprising a front plate (1) with a first (2) and a second surface (3) and an IR sensor apparatus (4) comprising at least one IR light-emitting diode (5) and, spaced apart therefrom, an IR sensor (6), wherein the at least one IR light-emitting diode (5) is configured to emit IR radiation (7) in the direction of the first surface (2) of the front plate (1) and through the latter and the IR sensor (6) is configured to detect reflected IR radiation (8) through the second surface (3) of the front plate (1) and through the latter, and an IR evaluation apparatus which is configured to evaluate the reflected IR radiation (8) for the presence of a mobile object, wherein, for the IR sensor (6), use is made of an IR sensor that has a maximum sensitivity at a certain work frequency fo such that the sensitivity at higher or lower frequencies (f) is lower. Moreover, the invention relates to a method for operating this apparatus.
