Latch assembly, comprising:- a hook (6) assembly (2) movable between a locked position and a released position,- a handle (10) assembly (1),- a shaft (3, 4),- the handle (10) assembly (1) being:• coupled to a first longitudinal portion of the shaft (3, 4),• rotary movable with respect to the longitudinal axis of the shaft (3, 4),- the hook (6) being:• coupled to a second longitudinal portion of the shaft (3, 4), and• movable in a plane located in the second portion of the shaft (3, 4) longitudinally spaced apart from the handle (10),the shaft (3, 4) and the hook (6) being configured such that the rotational movement of the shaft (3, 4) around its longitudinal axis moves the hook (6) in the plane located in the second portion of the shaft (3, 4) between the lock position and the released position.
