The disclosure relates to an airtight floor drain (1) for poultry houses, comprising a plug (10), a drain shell (30) with an inlet end having an inlet rim (43) and a protective cover (20). The drain shell may be adapted to be mounted on an external sewer pipe and configured for being cast into a concrete floor with the inlet rim and/or the protective cover substantially aligned with a surface of the concrete floor.
