ALKALI-ACTIVATED LIGHTWEIGHT COMPOSITES BASED ON ALKALI-ACTIVATED FOAMS AND MANUFACTURING PROCESS
The invention relates to alkali-activated lightweight composites based on alkali-activated foams with the addition of lightweight aggregates and to a manufacturing process thereof using waste materials such as slag and fly-ash as precursors. These composites are non-combustible and dimensionally stable. To achieve lower densities and thus better insulation properties, while ensuring sufficient mechanical strength, various lightweight aggregates are added to the composites, such as expanded clay, foamed glass, perlite, thus achieving a lower density of composites and consequently improving their insulating properties. Said composites are preferably used as an insulating material that is resistant also at elevated temperatures.
