A technology that allows an operator of a shovel to readily identify the location of an object even when the object is detected outside the range of a peripheral image displayed on a display device. According to an embodiment of the present disclosure, a shovel 100 includes an image capturing device 40 configured to capture an image around the shovel 100, a detecting part 304 configured to detect a predetermined object around the shovel 100, and a display device 50 configured to display a peripheral image (such as a through-the-lens image or a viewpoint-converted image) representing the situation around the shovel 100 based on the image captured by the image capturing device 40. When the predetermined object is detected outside a range of the peripheral image by the detecting part 304, the display device 50 displays an image indicating that the predetermined object is detected outside the range of the peripheral image.
