A shovel according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a lower traveling body (1), an upper turning body (3) turnably mounted on the lower traveling body (1), and a machine guidance device (50) configured to control a projection device (S9) that projects light onto a ground surface. The machine guidance device (50) is attached to the upper turning body (3), and is configured to control the projection device (S9) so as to enable visualization of the relationship between the current shape of the ground surface and the shape of a target surface.
