The invention relates to an extendable handle (4) comprising a movable gripping member (6) intended to be grabbed at a gripping body (16) in order to open an openable leaf of a motor vehicle, such as a door equipped with said handle, by rotating the movable gripping member (6). The extendable handle (4) comprises a retractable flap (7) mounted in a pivoting manner with respect to the movable gripping member (6). The retractable flap (7) is configured to adopt an open configuration allowing the gripping body (16) to be grabbed, and a closed configuration in which the retractable flap (7) and the movable gripping member (6) are substantially coplanar and housed in a support (5) of the extendable handle (4).
