The invention relates to a method for replacing water in a swimming pool filtration circuit. The water replacement method implements the following steps: - measuring the previous quantity of water replaced in the swimming pool filtration circuit (2); and - measuring a cleanliness parameter (C) of the water in the filtration circuit (2); then - replacing a quantity of water (VRj) in the filtration circuit (2), in proportion to the value of a product of the previous quantity of water (VRj-1) replaced in the filtration circuit (2) and an adjustment factor (Cj), the adjustment factor being a ratio between the measured cleanliness parameter (C) and a cleanliness parameter reference value.
