DRAINAGE MONITORING APPARATUS AND SYSTEM
A drainage monitoring apparatus 10 comprising a water trap 20 comprising a housing 25 having a trap inlet 22 connectable to a sanitary appliance and a trap outlet 24 connected to a waste pipe, wherein the water trap is arranged to form a water seal between the inlet and outlet; and a water level sensor 12, 14 located within the housing. The sensor preferably comprises a first level sensor 12 corresponding to a lower water level and a second level sensor 14 corresponding to an upper water level. The system may replenish the water trap using an automated valve connected to a water inlet in response to the water level sensed by the system, or provide an audible or visual output. Further disclosed is a system comprising at least one drainage monitoring apparatus which may be associated with multiple appliances in a building system.
