A system (10) for monitoring a machine (1), comprising: at least one sensor device (12), which is designed to detect at least one physical variable and to provide corresponding sensor data (SD_F), and a central data processing device (16), which is designed to analyse the sensor data (SD_F) provided by the at least one sensor device (12) and, on this basis, to estimate a degree of wear (A) of the machine (1), is known. Since the central data processing device (16) is designed to estimate the degree of wear (A) by means of an artificial intelligence subsystem (40), which processes the provided sensor data (SD_F), the system (10) according to the invention allows an exact and reliable estimation of the wear of the machine (1) with a relatively small number of sensor devices (12).
