The invention relates to a water flush device (10) comprising a housing (20) and an actuating rod (51) fitted with a flapper (53) in its lower portion. In the configuration of use, the rod is joined to the housing and projects from an upper opening (33) and a lower opening, and is vertically movable between a closed position in which the flapper closes off the discharge opening (7) in the cistern (1), and a discharge position in which the flapper is located above the discharge opening. A vertical aperture (30) extends up the entire height of the housing and is in communication with the upper and lower openings. The aperture is configured so that the rod can be removed from the housing by way of a horizontal translational movement via the aperture.
