The present invention relates to an activator composition for mineral binders comprising ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS), especially at least 80 w% or higher of GGBS. The activator comprises aluminium sulfate, sodium carbonate or sodium bicarbonate, and hydraulic lime or hydrated lime. The present invention also relates to mineral binder compositions comprising ground granulated blast furnace slag and the activator composition and uses thereof.
