The invention relates to a method for additively manufacturing an object (10), comprising the steps of: supplying a strand-shaped starting material (11) to a friction assembly (2) and accelerating the starting material (11) in an output direction (100) through the friction assembly (2) in order to apply the starting material (11), in particular in layers, to a building platform (12) and/or to already-manufactured regions of the object (10) in order to manufacture the object (10), wherein the strand-shaped starting material (11) is at least partly liquefied and/or at least partly plasticised and/or at least partially broken down into particles by the friction assembly (2). The invention also relates to a manufacturing device (1) for additively manufacturing an object (10), comprising a friction assembly (2) to which a strand-shaped starting material (11) can be supplied, wherein the friction assembly (2) is designed to accelerate the starting material (11) in an output direction (100) in order to apply the starting material (11), in particular in layers, to a building platform (12) and/or to already-manufactured regions of the object (10) in order to manufacture the object (10), wherein the friction assembly (2) is designed to at least partly liquefy and/or at least partly plasticise the strand-shaped starting material (11) and/or to at least partly break the starting material down into particles.
