Proposed is a manipulation device (1) for acting on an elongate object, in particular a railway rail (3), the manipulation device comprising: at least one manipulation unit (2) for acting on a surface (4) of the elongate object; and a coupling device for reversibly coupling the at least one manipulation unit (2) to the elongate object such that the at least one manipulation unit (2) can act on the surface (4), in particular the underside, of the elongate object, wherein the coupling device has a guide means for guided movement of the manipulation device (1) along a longitudinal direction of the elongate object. Also proposed are a combination and a system (16) having such a manipulation device (1), and a method for manipulating an elongate object.
