Un método para fabricar un producto aislante térmico de fibra mineral, que comprende las etapas secuenciales de: - Formar fibras minerales a partir de una mezcla mineral fundida; - Pulverizar una solución aglutinante sustancialmente exenta de formaldehído sobre las fibras minerales, comprendiendo la solución aglutinante: un azúcar reductor, un precursor ácido derivable de una sal inorgánica y una fuente de nitrógeno, en la que el precursor ácido de la solución aglutinante derivable de una sal inorgánica comprende una sal de amonio y en la que la sal de amonio inorgánico constituye entre el 5 % y el 25 % en peso seco de la solución aglutinante; - Recoger las fibras minerales a las que se ha aplicado la solución aglutinante para formar un bloque aislante de fibras minerales; y - Curar el bloque aislante que comprende las fibras minerales y el aglutinante pasando el bloque aislante de material fibroso a través de un horno de curado con el fin de proporcionar un bloque aislante de fibras minerales mantenidas juntas con un aglutinante curado, sustancialmente insoluble en agua.
A method of manufacturing a mineral fibre thermal insulation product comprises the sequential steps of:• Forming mineral fibres from a molten mineral mixture;• spraying a substantially formaldehyde free binder solution on to the mineral fibres, the binder solution comprising: a reducing sugar, an acid precursor derivable from an inorganic salt and a source of nitrogen;• Collecting the mineral fibres to which the binder solution has been applied to form a batt of mineral fibres; and• Curing the batt comprising the mineral fibres and the binder which is in contact with the mineral fibres by passing the batt through a curing oven so as to provide a batt of mineral fibres held together by a substantially water insoluble cured binder.
