L’invention concerne un dispositif enrouleur-dérouleur d’une bâche de protection pour couvrir une surface à protéger, ce dispositif étant autotracté et comportant un système de freinage (100) pour bloquer la rotation d’au moins une roue motrice (15, 16) des chariots (5, 6) et provoquer une mise en tension automatique de ladite bâche pendant son enroulement le tube d’enroulement dudit dispositif. Ce système de freinage (100) comporte un cliquet (101) mobile solidaire de chacun des chariots (5, 6), et une roue à rochet (102) solidaire de ladite au moins une roue motrice (15, 16) de chacun des chariots (5, 6), de sorte que dans le sens de rotation (Rd) correspondant au déroulement de la bâche, le cliquet (101) n’est pas en prise avec la roue à rochet (102) et le système de freinage (100) est en position passive (PP), et dans le sens de rotation inverse correspondant à l’enroulement de ladite bâche, le cliquet (101) est en prise avec la roue à rochet (102) et le système de freinage (100) est en position active. A rolling-unrolling device for a protective cover for covering a surface to be protected is presented. The device is self-propelling and includes a braking system for blocking the rotation of at least one drive wheel of the carriages and causing the cover to be automatically tensioned during the rolling up thereof on the roller tube. This braking system includes a movable pawl integral with each of the carriages, and a ratchet wheel integral with the drive wheel of each of the carriages, such that, in the direction of rotation corresponding to the unrolling of the cover, the pawl is not engaged with the ratchet wheel and the braking system is in the passive position, and in the opposite direction of rotation corresponding to the rolling up of the cover, the pawl is engaged with the ratchet wheel and the braking system is in the active position.
