Method and system for optimizing building design
The present invention provides a method of optimizing a design of a building using a combination of building components in computer-implemented building design, the method including the steps of: determining a plurality of constraints, at least one of the constraints being associated with a site on which the building is to be constructed; creating a plurality of potential building designs which are consistent with the determined constraints; calculating, for each potential building design, a metric based on the carbon emissions associated with the building design; optimizing the plurality of potential building designs based on the calculated metrics; and determining, from said optimizing, an optimal set of said potential building designs. A system and computer program implementing the method are also provided.
