Mortar joint spacer
A spacer device 28, 29, 27 to provide consistent spacing between building elements, such as bricks or blocks in masonry, by using a plurality of members (2 figure 1), which include detachable connections (16 figure 1) so that a first part can be detached from a second, to allow selective adjustment of the devices dimensions. The width and/or length may be adjusted. The device may contain a third vertical part 17 detachably connected, and the detachable connections may be weakened areas of the elongate members, e.g. by having notches or perforations. The first and second parts may be a horizontal grid and make up a receiving area for the base of an element. The vertical third part 17 can space between adjacent elements. The members may contain recesses to allow water drainage from mortar, or to accommodate a portion of an element. The device may be plastic e.g. HDPE, and provide 10mm spacing.
