The roof insulation unit 1, for the meeting point between a ceiling and roof, has at least one insulation support member 2,3 having first 7,8 and second surfaces 9,10, and a wedge shaped body of insulating material 11,12 having first and second outer surfaces, wherein the insulation material is attached to a surface of the support member. The insulating body may comprise two portions that form the wedge shape, and each portion may comprise different materials. Two support members may be used, and outer surfaces of the wedged body may be connected to a surface of each support member. The two supports can abut at one end and may be pivoted by a hinge 5,6 to form the wedged body, or they may be a single sheet having a flexible region that can be bent. A ventilator tray 13 can be included on one of the support members.
