The grease trap device comprises a first receptacle having an inlet 9, an outlet 15, a drain 41 arranged to capture FOGs floating on the surface of the water within the receptacle, and a valve for controlling the flow through the drain. The device may comprise a removable slidably mounted second receptacle 5 having a locking mechanism for locking its position relative to the first receptacle which is locked when the valve is open. The device may comprise baffles 11, 13 adjacent the inlet and outlet, and removable heat exchanger units located within compartments in the baffles. The device may comprise an alert system comprising a timing device to alert a user to drain FOGs, and a thermoelectric generator which charges a cell which powers the alert system. The drain may comprise a funnel 43 and be located below the inlet and outlet. The first receptacle may comprise rotary moulded plastic and have a removable lid.
