Ladder tape and method of making the same
A ladder tape comprising first band 10, second band 12; first warp 14 and second 16 interlacing respective bands; and weft following an s-shaped path passing through slits in the warp on the inner sides of the band, and forming bridging portions 18, 19 connecting wefts on opposite sides (figure 8). Preferably, the warps form visible interlocking loop shaped segments. A method comprising passing a hook of a crochet needle through each band respectively, placing a warp on the hook and pulling the warp through the band to form chain segments, and knitting a weft in an s-shape through the weft. Preferably, the respective crochet needles move synchronously. Preferably, the weft goes beneath the crochet needle on entry, is raised by a guide tube, the warp is hooked before withdrawal, and the tube moves laterally to feed the weft. Preferably, warp knitting needle rotates around crochet needle, placing warp on the hook.
